BKB Chemicals announces that it has received NATRUE certification for Glycolic EVA70®, its 100% bio-based glycolic acid, developed as an alternative to conventional petrochemical-based processes.

NATRUE: A Rigorous International Standard
NATRUE is an international standard for natural and organic cosmetics. It establishes strict criteria regarding the origin of ingredients, their processing, and their use in cosmetic formulations.
In particular, the framework provides guidance on:
Whether substances are of natural origin or derived from natural sources.
Authorized manufacturing and processing methods.
The exclusion of GMOs and certain classes of ingredients—including silicones, parabens, mineral oils, and microplastics—from certified formulations.
Compliance verification by accredited independent organizations.

As of July 2024, new formulations submitted for the NATRUE certification program must, subject to the specified exceptions, contain approved or certified raw materials.
Glycolic EVA70® can thus assist formulators in selecting raw materials that comply with the standards, particularly for the development of exfoliating treatments and products designed to renew the skin's surface.
However, approval of the ingredient does not exempt manufacturers from conducting safety and compliance assessments of their finished products.
